This silver coin, a Denarius, was minted by moneyer Mn. Fonteius C.f in 85 BC in Rome. It pictures the laureate head of Apollo. Apollo was the god of music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and light, with his thunderbolt. On the back (reverse) is winged cupid, the god of love in all its varieties, astride a goat.
