Princess Louisa 1743

Princess Louisa Shipwreck Treasure Coin Jewelry
The Gleaming Silver Shipwreck Treasure of the Princess Louisa

A Special Note from Robert & April:

Over a decade ago, when Princess Louisa coins still surfaced occasionally from private recovery groups, we recognized how fleeting those opportunities were. Even then, this was shipwreck treasure that was rarely touched, rarely photographed, and rarely released to the public.

So we did what treasure salvors do when they know the window is closing: we curated, conserved, and protected every exceptional piece we could acquire.

Piece by piece for over 15 years.

Since then, the shipwreck world has changed. Recovery has ceased. The treasure disappeared into private collections and estates. And Princess Louisa coins have become nearly impossible to obtain.

Our private collection — patiently built over a decade — is the reason this release is possible. And it is why you will not find a collection like this anywhere else.

For 300 years, Spain produced 80% of the silver, and 70% of the gold in the world. And the “Pillars and Waves” design is highly prized as some of the most beautiful coins ever minted. Spanning between the Pillars of Hercules is the Latin phrase, “PLVS VLTRA” meaning “MORE BEYOND.” On the reverse is the cross. Carrying these stunning coins, the British East India Company ship Princess Louisa went to the bottom off the Cape Verde Islands in 1743. Rarely found on shipwrecks, this style of coin is decidedly sought-after as a perfect necklace size for both ladies and gentleman.
