Before the Roman Empire, there was the Roman Republic… where ancient Rome was ruled by the powerful Senate and moneyers were responsible for creating the coins used by the citizens of this rising power.
This silver coin, a Denarius , was minted by moneyer Tiberius Claudius Nero in 79 BC in Rome. It pictures a draped bust of Diana with a bow and quiver over her shoulder. Diana was the goddess of the hunt, the moon, and nature, who could talk to animals. On the back (reverse) is Victory, the goddess of victory in battle and over death, with a palm branch in hand as she drives a biga (a sporty, two-horse chariot).
Our ancient coin pendants are a favorite of history fans, students, travel buffs and teachers… and anyone with a love of the past. Our Roman jewelry is designed to be worn by men or women will accommodate both large and small chain and leather necklaces.

April's Notes: Diana - strong and brave - is the star of this rare silver Denarius. With her quiver and bow, she is the picture of classic Roman mythology. The hound and spear are equally appealing as well.
This coin is a classic example of early Roman coinage. It was passed through countless hands - Roman soldiers and citizens whose lives live on through their coins.
Perhaps best of all, it is what we call "zero die axis." When these coins were struck, the minters didn't care if the top of one side of the coin was also the top on the other side - what we call "Medallic Orientation." This coin is one of the rare ones you can wear it either side out.
(Please note: this information and much more will appear on your customized Certificate of Authenticity.)
Each ancient Roman coin was hand-struck by three people, and at the height of the Roman empire, coins were minted throughout the sprawling territories – even in military camps where coins were minted to pay soldiers. Lost or purposely hoarded, this ancient Roman Coin was discovered by metal detector and professionally conserved for a lifetime of enjoyment.
