Before the Roman Empire, there was the Roman Republic… where ancient Rome was ruled by the powerful Senate and moneyers were responsible for creating the coins used by the citizens of this rising power.

This silver coin, a Denarius , was minted by moneyer C Postumius in 73 BC in Rome. It pictures a draped bust of Diana with a bow and quiver over her shoulder. Diana was the goddess of the hunt, the moon, and nature, who could talk to animals. On the back (reverse) is a Hound running to the right with a spear below.

Our ancient coin pendants are a favorite of history fans, students, travel buffs and teachers… and anyone with a love of the past. Our Roman jewelry is designed to be worn by men or women will accommodate both large and small chain and leather necklaces.

April's Notes: Diana - strong and brave - is the star of this rare silver Denarius. With her quiver and bow, she is the picture of classic Roman mythology. The hound and spear are equally appealing as well.

Diana is the ancient Roman goddess of the hunt, the moon, and wild animals, and is often portrayed as a protector of women, children, and those in need. As the daughter of Jupiter and Latona and twin sister to Apollo, she is strongly associated with not just animals, but all nature, and especially sacred forests.
