Before the Roman Empire, there was the Roman Republic… where ancient Rome was ruled by the powerful Senate and moneyers were responsible for creating the coins used by the citizens of this rising power.
This silver coin, a Denarius, was minted by moneyer M. Porcius Laeca in 125 BC in Rome. It pictures the helmeted Roma on the front (obverse). Roma was the personification – the representation of the city of Rome, where this coin was minted. On the back (reverse) is Libertas (the virtue of giving freely - the spirit of generosity - and the goddess that represented this virtue) in a quadriga (a four-horse chariot) with Victory (the goddess of victory in battle and over death) flying above and ROMA below.
Our ancient coin pendants are a favorite of history fans, students, travel buffs and teachers… and anyone with a love of the past. Our Roman jewelry is designed to be worn by men or women will accommodate both large and small chain and leather necklaces.

April's Notes: A wonderful portrait of Roma is the star of this beautifully struck denarius. Her winged helmet and even her earring is clearly seen.
On the reverse is Libertas, who is the goddess that encompasses the virtue and spirit of generosity - of giving freely. She is accompanied by Victory, the goddess of victory in battle and over death flying above. And, the bold ROMA is clearly seen.
