ALL ABOUT CANNON BEACH TREASURE COMPANY
Sank in the English Channel on Goodwin Sands in 1739, coins from the Dutch East Indiaman Rooswijk are highly prized. Less than 20,000 of them have been recovered, and most of those were "rewarded" to the Dutch government, leaving only a few for collectors. She was carrying the extremely rare Pillar Dollars of Mexico City and the hand-hammered “cob” pieces of eight. Discovered in 2004, the Dutch Government required that the salvors surrender most of the coins to them. These are some of the very few that are available to collectors, and they make stunning necklaces.
