Sailing as part of the Dutch East India Company Christmas fleet, Rooswijk was just one day out of port when she wrecked on Goodwin Sands, carrying to the bottom some of the most precious treasure coins ever minted. Recovered in 2004, only a few of Rooswijk’s glittering “Pieces of Eight” were made available to collectors. Our Rooswijk treasure coins include both “cob” and Pillar Dollars in exceptionally fine condition.

To date, less than 20,000 silver coins, many of them in remarkably good condition, have been recovered. The vast majority of them were "rewarded" to the Dutch Government, leaving only a few for collectors. A mass of artifacts including boxes of muskets were also recovered. The coins discovered include the extremely rare Pillar Dollars of Mexico City.
