Even the great, and often maligned, “pirate hunter” Captain William Kidd used these coins to purchase rum and wine for his crew.

Robert's Notes: This is an Atocha Era coin that was once buried and found on land by metal detector. But it is the same type and size of coin found on Atocha.

Beautiful cross and shield detail, nice wider than usually 2 reale. "II" denomination and partial HISPANIARVM Latin for Spain. Most of the time this falls off the edge of the planchet and isn't visible.
