But what is the most COOL is the canvas cross-hatch \"bag marks\" on the shield side!\u003c\/strong\u003e After the coins were struck at the Potosi mint at 10,000+ feet, they were put in heavy canvas bags and took two weeks carried by llama and mule pack trains down to Arica and her Pacific port for transport north to Panama. When the bag holding this coin was later loaded into the wooden \"treasure chest\" chest for transport to Spain, the shield side of this coin was facing out and pressed against the wood of the chest. After nearly 400 years underwater, some of the chests were still intact with the coins in large \"clumps\" in them.
