Some of the Most Beautiful Coins Ever Minted - Rare, Dated and One-of-a-Kind

Please Note: This is an authentic Princess Louisa Shipwreck Treasure Coin, and you will receive the exact pendant in the photographs and description.

Ships like Princess Louisa were the largest, and the most beautiful, in the British merchant marine and were only rivaled by the larger galleons of Spain and Portugal. They had evolved during the 130 years that England had been trading with the East and were now big, but graceful ships; strong, fast, well-armed and eminently suited for the long and dangerous passages they had to make.

But treacherous currents, combined with inaccurate charts, sealed Princess Louisa's fate in the shallow shoals off the Cape Verde Islands. Like most trade ships of her day, the trade coinage she was loaded with were Spanish, not British.

    • Pendant size including bezel:  7/8" Across, 1 3/8" Tall - the diameter of a U.S. quarter

Robert's Notes: Beautiful cross. A great example of the famed "Piece of Eight" of this era; deeply struck, very visible 729 date (they only used 3 digits on this part of the coin), and with a clear denomination, and Pillars and Waves design.

The darker spot on the lower right is a cool little bit of verdigris attached to the coin from the shipwreck... it's a rare piece of its shipwreck provenance. It is a tiny piece left of metal that the coin was resting against. It acted like a "sacrificial metal" and protected the coin from the harsh saltwater environment.
